MUK PRESS

MUK PRESS stands as a prominent national publishing entity with aspirations to broaden its reach globally by exploring new frontiers within medical sciences.

Specializing in academic journals within medical, biomedical, and pharmaceutical sciences technologies, and environmental health engineering, MUK PRESS also produces scientific books and monographs. Notably, Scientific Journal of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, launched in 1998, stands as a flagship publication in medical and health fields within Iran. Presently, MUK PRESS has augmented its portfolio to encompass ten scientific journals in English as well as Persian.

Operating under the guidance of the Bureau for Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, an entity within the Department of Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology at MUK, MUK PRESS is overseen by the Academic Publication Office. This office collaborates closely with editorial teams both on and off-campus to ensure quality and relevance.

The policies governing MUK PRESS are established and regulated by the Council for Scholarly Journals, the Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication, and the Council for Books and Monographs.

Academic Publications at MUK

Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences (MUK) serves as a publisher for various medical publications, encompassing a collection of scholarly journals available through the Platinum Open Access model. These journals, under the umbrella of MUK PRESS, meticulously uphold exemplary academic and ethical standards. Each submission undergoes a comprehensive peer-review process, and the accepted articles are subsequently disseminated across globally recognized platforms, including PubMed Central.

The implementation of Platinum Open Access by MUK ensures that authors are not burdened with any publication fees. This approach guarantees that no valuable peer-reviewed contributions are left unpublished due to financial constraints. The Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology of MUK actively supports and promotes this initiative.

The Council for Scholarly Journals

The Council for Scholarly Journals convenes to deliberate and establish the scientific objectives, strategic initiatives, roadmaps, and overarching policies for MUK PRESS publications.

Council members comprise the Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology, the Director of Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, the head of the Academic Publication Office, and the chief editors of journals under the MUK PRESS umbrella.

The Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication

To advance scholarly publishing through research and development, the Experts Committee for Scholarly Journal Publication convenes regularly to delve into emerging topics and devise strategic plans to address challenges and broaden initiatives. Both directors and advisors participate as equal members, actively engaging in the committee's discussions and deliberations.

The Council for Books & Monographs

The council comprises the Vice Chancellor for Research & Technology, the Director of Health Informatics & Scientific Resources, the Supervisor of the Academic Publication Office, and five distinguished faculty experts.

The Council for Books & Monographs convenes to deliberate on policies overseeing the publication of books and monographs, whether facilitated or released by the KUM PRESS.
